Vincent Fournier - The Man Machine series (2010)

This weekend Joye Gallery will be welcoming to its walls Brussels-based French photographer Vincent Fournier and his series ‘The Man Machine’, a collection of images of robots staged in urban settings and the places they’re developed. Fournier’s work, some of which has already appeared in renowned magazines like Wallpaper*, is a curious blend of science fiction and childhood dreams that hint at his strong interest in new technology and the future of humanity. Clearly influenced by science fiction movies like Stanley Kubrick’s iconic  ‘2001, A Space Odyssey’ or Andrei Tarkovsky‘s ‘Solaris’, his melancholic photographs manage to be strangely realistic at the same time.
